I'm an award winning strategist, creative director, writer, public speaker and geek.

I'm the ex-chief innovation officer at MDC Partners where I would I think and write and speak about where things are going, for our partners and clients.

I worked mostly at kbs+ - one of our integrated agencies in NYC - as their Chief Innovation Officer.

At kbs+ I championed a new kind of creative work and a new strategic process, one that doesn't assume Ads as the default output, set up an awards function, a social group, a content group and I'm also a co-founder of the mysterious Spies&Assassins - our creative technology boutique, which has its own clients, building interesting and useful things with hardware and software, Arduinos and code.

We took the agency on a journey that has moved them from not winning any awards or new business in years, to winning the global integrated account for BMW and picking up a host of awards for them.

On the BMW ActiveE project - unusually, I was the strategy director and one of the creative directors [my concepts.]

We've won a GOLD ADC Integrated award, a SILVER NEW LIA award, A ONE SHOW Entertainment Pencil, a APPY award, and various others, for that work.

Before this I was EVP Chief Technology Strategist at McCann Erickson New York.

Before that I spent 5 years as the Digital Ninja at Naked Communications, in London, Sydney and New York.

I think being involved in our industry is important for all of us, so I do some teaching at BoulderDigitalWorks MasterClasses, and Miami Ad School [Brooklyn, where I was teaching social media for creatives] and do some award judging.

I've been on the juries for the OneShow, the Clios, the Effies, the Campaign Big Awards, The Jay Chiat Awards and many others.

I have been the jury chairman for the Content and Contact and the Integrated categories at the Clio Awards, and the NEW category for the London International Awards.

[In fact, I invented the NEW category with the LIAs, to highlight and champion that kind of work I think we need to be doing more of.]

I'm trying to work out how we communicate in a networked world, how we can make people happy, how we can make awesome stuff that is useful or entertaining or both.

I like to believe advertising can be a force for good in the world.

Sometimes I talk about technology and communication.

I contributed chapters to both Age of Conversation books that were sold for Variety the Children's Charity, and have some new writing being published in book form next year.

I was awarded the President's Prize from the IPA for my thesis on the future of brands.

Campaign magazine in the UK said this was one of the top 10 ad blogs in the UK - and that I was a Face to Watch, which was nice of them.
